Hello, I’m Natalie and this is my website. I’m a writer and work on South Asia. I was born in Munich, where my parents met. My father came to Bavaria after the Islamic Revolution, and it was there that I grew up with my sisters and mother. After my first experience in radio, I began blogging and subsequently contributed to the local edition of Süddeutsche Zeitung. Since then, I have worked as a reporter for various German-speaking publications, including Die Presse, Die Tageszeitung, NZZ, VICE, WOZ and Zeit Online.
I graduated from LMU Munich in 2014 with a Master’s degree in European Ethnology, Sociology, and Iranian Studies. In spring 2016, I spent three months researching in China as part of the Media Ambassador Fellowship. From September 2017 to January 2018, I was in India to report from there, and again from January to June 2019 during India’s general elections.
In addition to digital transformation, my interests include subculture, art, society, and the interaction between these and politics. Reporting from various Asian countries, such as Bangladesh, China, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, has solidified my interest in the latter over the years. In 2025, my first book translation “Der Wegbereiter – Wie Rudolf von Leyden Mumbais Kunstszene prägte” was published by Draupadi Verlag, Heidelberg.
